Mertz wins International Award
November 15, 2006The International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS) has announced that Chicago artist Nancie King Mertz has been chosen as one of eight finalists in their 2007 Catalogue Cover Competition with her painting “Colorado Calling.” As part of that honor, Mertz will receive a point towards the five-point goal for the IAPS Master Circle Award, of which there are currently only 13 recipients worldwide.
The International Association of Pastel Societies is a non-profit organization dedicated to uniting pastel societies in the common cause of promoting the art of painting with soft pastels. The IAPS now boasts forty-seven member societies from six countries devoted to a tradition of artistic pastel excellence.
Nancie King Mertz is a member of the Chicago Pastel Painters and has earned many awards and print media coverage of her work. She and her husband, Ron Mertz, own ArtDeTriumph & Artful Framer Studios, a gallery and frame shop featuring Nancie’s originals, and Giclée prints of her work, published by Ron. She is the Official Artist of the Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau, providing numerous originals and Giclée prints to visiting dignitaries. Her work is in corporate and private collections worldwide.
